Friends of the Earth – Tree-planting Challenge 2010

“Tree Planting Challenge” is a unique environmental activity that combines tree–planting, hiking and challenge of self–endurance. Nature lovers of Canon Electronic Business Machines (H.K.) Co. Ltd (CEBM) experienced the challenge of tree–planting work and spread the message to “Save Trees, Conserve Nature”.

Forests and climate are closely linked. Facing the global climate change, this year’s “Tree–planting Challenge” specially set the theme as “Plant a Wish for a Better Climate”. Through participating in the tree–planting event, staff is alert of the impact of climate change and reduces our carbon footprint in alleviating global warming.

CEBM and Friends of the Earth joined hands and actioned in:

• Planted 10,000 seedlings. When the trees grow up, they can help modulating the climate.
• Tried best to reduce carbon emission during the event to make the “Tree–planting Challenge 2010” became “carbon neutral”.
• Supporting low carbon lifestyle! We cannot fight against the worsening climate change problem through only one tree–planting activity. Our planet needs long–term commitment in environmental–friendly living.

In this year, CEBM team recorded 3 hours 24 minutes and 26 seconds. We are pleased that our team has participated in this meaningful event and ranked Top 5 out of the 60 teams in the open team section.
